SAILING TOWARDS SUSTAINABILITY: NUVOLARI LENARD’S COLLABORATION WITH MUVE YACHTS PROJECTS ACADEMY LAB 2024 DURING THE VENICE BOAT SHOW

In the heart of Venice, where tradition converges with innovation, lies the ethos of Nuvolari Lenard. Yacht design, for them, is not merely  profession but a profound responsibility towards shaping the yacht design toward a sustainable future for generations to come.

During yesterday’s Venice Boat Show ceremony, among the most important events was the inauguration of the “MUVE Yacht Projects 2024 Academy Lab”. This exhibition proudly presented the best projects from three selected Italian universities, chosen by an illustrious scientific committee led by Carlo Nuvolari, CEO of Nuvolari-Lenard srl and also composed of Giordano Pellacani, Sales & Marketing Director of Custom Business at Ferretti Group spa, and Luca Mizzan, oceanographer, director of the Natural History Museum of Venice.

Carlo Nuvolari has created and led the scientific committee of MUVE Academy for five years now, the annual Yacht Design competition promoted by MUVE (Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia) and effectively supported by its president Mariacristina Gribaudi. The theme of the recently concluded competition was “The ‘Selection of Studies and Projects of Boats – Sustainable Navigation’ and presented a formidable challenge to the students of three renowned Italian universities: Polytechnic of Milan, University of Trieste and University Campus of La Spezia.

The most deserving projects from each of these esteemed institutions were awarded , each embodying the essence of sustainability, with particular attention to high energy efficiency and minimal environmental impact.

Visitors were able to see the award-winning projects displayed in one of the ancient and large warehouses of the historic Arsenal of Venice, where the racing sailing boats designed and built by the sailing teams of the various universities present were also on display.

“At Nuvolari Lenard, our collaboration with MUVE , universities and students is a shared dedication to promoting positive change in the way we approach projects. Through mentorship, research initiatives and hands-on experience, we give students the opportunity to push the boundaries of conventional design and embrace sustainable ethics in yacht design.” – observed Carlo Nuvolari.
